| It's really awesome having a Scangauge that tells me what my mileage is for trips. For driving to Diego/Yi/Seth's place, I was torn between taking Central Expressway or taking 101. On one hand, Central Expressway takes only 9.7 miles instead of 12.0 miles, but on the other hand I get better mileage on the 101. Now that I have the gauge and I can see that it's 40.4 MPG taking Central (^-1 * 9.7 mi = 0.24 gal) or 46.9 MPG taking 101 (^-1 * 12.0 mi = 0.26 gal), so overall I save 0.02 gal by taking Central. Isn't research fun??
This is like the best toy ever!

Driving is so much more exciting when you go slow. You ignore the cars honking behind you, who eventually give up and speed around you, only to meet the red light up ahead. I can imagine their frustration when they see me slowly pull up inches behind them before the light finally turns green. And driving on the freeway at 55mph like a rebel... waiting to find the perfect truck to tail... it's like 10x more exciting than just cruising at 90mph. When you're in the car it feels like driving takes so much longer, but once you step out you realize the trip took pretty much the same time it did before. So much fun! I can't wait to fill up my tank and see what my MPG is!
Speaking of which, I'm totally gonna get me a scangaugeII so I can get realtime updates of my MPG! http://www.scangauge.com/

Every time you take up the instrument, you are making a statement -- your statement. And it must be a statement of faith that you believe this is the way you want to speak. Unless you feel that you must live with music, that music can say more than words, that music can mean more, that without music we are not alive... if you don't feel all that, don't be a musician.
